Being a mum to energetic 6-year-old twin boys completely changed the way I approach work and life. These days, my work fits around school runs, sports days, and family life — something I’m incredibly grateful to be able to do thanks to my understanding and supportive clients.
I’m lucky to live on a lifestyle block alongside my parents, which gives our family an amazing support system and allows me to maintain a work-life balance that many people dream of. Family, flexibility, and connection are at the heart of everything I do.
Outside of work, I love catching up with my girlfriends who have supported and encouraged me throughout my career journey. Their friendship, along with the support of my family and clients, has helped shape the life and business I’m so proud of today.

For the past 26 years, hairdressing has been more than just a career — it’s been a passion and a huge part of my life. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to train and work alongside some true industry legends, experiences that have shaped both my skills and the way I connect with clients.
My career began in large central city salons, where I thrived in the fast-paced, creative environment. Following the Christchurch earthquakes, life took a new direction and I made the decision to open my own home studio. It was a big change, but one I’ve never regretted. Working in a more personal setting allowed me to build deeper, more genuine relationships with my clients, many of whom have become lifelong friends.
For many years, I was also heavily involved in wedding hair, which was such a rewarding and creative part of my career, but as the commitments outside of work grew I had to step away from weddings. Alongside this, I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in photo shoots, fashion shows, and advertising work, which allowed me to explore the more editorial and artistic side of hairdressing.
After becoming a mum to twin boys, I moved into my current studio in North Canterbury. I now balance family life with the career I love, supported by amazing clients, family, and friends who have made this flexible lifestyle possible.

Based just 15 minutes from Rangiora and 20 minutes from Christchurch, my home-based studio is located on our peaceful lifestyle block in North Canterbury. It’s a relaxed and private space where clients can truly unwind away from the busy salon environment.
You may spot the occasional free-range hen wandering past, visit our friendly pig, or be greeted by our very cute dogs who always love to say hello when they’re allowed. With plenty of easy parking and a calm rural setting, the studio offers a welcoming experience that feels both personal and comfortable.
I use the amazing NAK Hair products in the studio. Over my 26 years in hairdressing, I’ve worked with many professional brands, but I absolutely love the grey coverage and beautiful toners that NAK offers. Using products I truly believe in allows me to create healthy, beautiful results tailored to each client.

When you visit Kelly’s Studio, you can expect a relaxed, friendly space that instantly puts you at ease. Set in the stunning San Dona Estate in Ohoka, the studio offers a warm, family-oriented atmosphere surrounded by nature — you might even meet the free-range chickens, kune kune pig, or the family dogs who love to say hello.
From the moment you get in touch to the final touches on your hair, you’ll deal directly with Kelly. With over 26 years of experience, she takes care of every step herself, ensuring consistent quality, personal attention, and a result you’ll love.
Using premium Nak Hair products, Kelly delivers professional, high-quality work in a comfortable and welcoming setting. Lower overheads mean you receive exceptional service and results at an affordable price — without compromising on care or detail.
At Kelly’s Studio, you’re not just another appointment — you’re part of the experience.
